Holiday Soaps
The Holidays are around the corner and I've been busy making sure there will be plenty of soap for everyone.

Sorry that it's been awhile since I last posted. I've been busy with a new job and still trying to work out the details on last one. Once I have a regular schedule, I'll be able to get back to soaping by the end of this month. I do want to get started on Holiday Soaps as I want to be a vendor at an event here in November.
See you in two weeks!
Another co-worker asked if I could duplicate a scented lotion. I love fragrance blending. I may not produce the exact scent but I give them samples to test and let them choose. It gives the customer a chance to pick up any differences and maybe likes a new part of it. It's the scent that gets your attention and then how the lotion makes your skin feel. If the scent is to your liking and if you like the way the lotion feels then you will use it more.
I do the same thing. I am a lotion fanatic. Before I started in this business, I purchased so many lotions. Either I liked the scent or I liked the lotion. I eventually found a scent that I absolutely adored and the lotion was good. It didn't last because the line was discontinued. I purchased what I could and tried to make it last. It's been long gone but I made a duplicate that comes very close and I'm pleased with it.
Updated the site to reflect the new shipping rates. As it was getting confusing on the weight vs rates, I had to stop the flat rate shipping for now. The shipping rates are from USPS weblink. This should work out better than the flat rate, especially when the package is smaller.
Back in stock is Romantic Rose and Island Treasure soaps. I know you have been patiently waiting. They look great and smell wonderful. I know you will enjoy these.
I have been keeping busy with orders, updating the website and making products. Some was challenging on the website. I was trying to make it more user friendly with better images, having products in a grid instead of a long list, revamping the review section.

I like change and decided to add the word soap to my business name. Jaceri Island Soap. I like it. Even though I make more than soap, I think it has a nice ring to to it.
Took a break yesterday and today I have to hustle to get things done. I guess I shouldn't have the baseball game on, LOL.
New lip dews are coming. I wanted to change the formula a bit and found Cocoa Oil. Cocoa oil is the liquid fraction of cocoa butter and good for moisturizing. It doesn't have the cocoa butter smell. That will come in handy for the new lip dew line that I'm creating. Besides a new oil, I'll be trying new butters as well. Keep an eye out for these.
I became intrigued when a co-worker asked about coconut oil soap. Coconut oil in high amounts can be drying to your skin unless the superfat is high. Also soap in high percentage of coconut oil will lather in saltwater. Time to experiment.
I used 100% Organic Virgin Coconut Oil. I chose this oil because it has a natural coconut scent. I wasn't sure if the scent would be retained after saponification so I added a coconut fragrance that would not discolor the soap. As an added bonus I used coconut milk powder for more conditioning even though it was superfatted at 20%.
It didn't go as planned. It would not stay mixed. Kept getting an oil layer on top after mixing. The mixture looked like it riced but stayed fluid. I left it in the bowl and set aside to dispose of later.
Made a new batch with my regular coconut oil with no milk powder added. Used a creamy coconut fragrance that lightly discolors so a pinch of titanium dioxide was added to keep it as white as possible. This was superfatted at 15%. It went smoothly and I was able to unmold it just over 12 hours.
Sorry, it's been awhile since my last post. Christmas kept me busy and by the time New Years rolled around I started planning for Valentine's Day.
